Day 1

Arrival at Paro – Paro vicinity tour (cultural sightseeing)

After touching down at Paro international airport, meet with your guide and driver and get transferred to your hotel. After enjoying your lunch, set out to visit following places:

Paro Ta Dzong: Located on a spur above Rinpung Dzong, five and a half kilometres’ drive from Tshongdu town, the dzong was built in the mid-17th century as a watchtower overlooking Rinpung Dzong by Lanyongpa Tenzin Drukdra and Chogyal Migyur Tenpa. The circular dzong houses the National Museum of Bhutan.

Paro Rinpung Dzong: Located on the bank of Pachu River, Paro Dzong, formally known as Rinchen Pung Dzong (shortened to Rinpung Dzong), was built in 1644 under the command of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It is one of the most beautiful and historically importantdzongs in the country. Today, it houses both district administration and monastic body.

Kichu Lhakhang: Located about 10 minutes’ drive from Paro town, the temple is one of the two among 108 temples built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century to subdue a demon that lay supine across Tibet and Bhutan. The temple contains sacred relics dating back to the 7th century like a statue of Lord Buddha and four statues of Chagtong Chentong. It also contains the statues of Guru Nangsi Zilnon, Dolma Kukuli (a manifestation of Tara), Zhabdrung, the bone relic of his Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.

Day 2

Gunyitsawa Village to Sharna Zampa (trekking)

From Paro we will drive till Gunyitsawa, from where the trek begins. Your trek permit is checked and endorsed here at the army post.
Walking distance: 40 minutes
Campsite altitude: 2,850 m

Day 3

Sharna Zampa to Thangthangkha (trekking)

Walking Distance: 22 km (7-8 hours)
Campsite altitude: 3,610 m

Day 4

Thangthangkha to Jangothang (trekking)

From this campsite we will have a spectacular view of Mt. Jomolhari, the highlight of this tour.

Walking Distance : 19 km (5-6 hours)
Campsite altitude: 4,080 m

Day 5

Jangothang Halt (Trekking)

Today is a rest day. Go for short hike around the base camp and sometime you can spot blue sheep (Pseudois nayaur) grazing on the slopes.

Day 6

Jangothang to Lingzhi (trekking)

From here the trail ascends following the Pa Chhu river valley, till we reach our next stopover via Bhonte la Pass (4890m) at Lingzhi.

Walking Distance: 16 km (6-7 hours)

Campsite altitude: 3,800 m

Day 7

Lingzhi to Shodu (trekking)

After early breakfast we will start ascending towards Yelila pass (4,930 m). From this pass you will have a beautiful view of Mt. Jomolhari, Tsherimgang and Masanggang. The trail then descends down till we reach our next stop at Shodu.

Walking Distance: 22 km (8-9 hours)

Campsite altitude: 4,080 m

Day 8

Shodu to Barshong (trekking)

After trekking for about 6 hours through a lush rhododendron forest following Thim chhu river, you will finally arrive at your campsite located at Barshong.

Walking Distance: 16 km (5-6 hours)
Campsite altitude: 3,710 m

Day 9

Barshong to Dolam Kencho (trekking)

The trail from Barshong to Dolam Kencho will lead you through a lush and dense forest of rhododendron, conifer, maples and dwarf bamboos.

Walking Distance: 15 km (5-6 hours)

Campsite altitude: 3,320 m

Day 10

Dolam Kencho – Dodena – Thimphu – Paro (trekking)

The trail passes through Jigme Dorji National park where you will spot few animals such as Languors. From Dodena monastery hike down till Cheri monastery and at the base of Cheri monastery, will be your driver and vehicle waiting for you. From here drive to Thimphu, enjoy your lunch and towards afternoon drive to Paro.

Walking Distance: 8 km (3-4 hours)

Overnight: At hotel in Paro.

Day 11


Your wonderful trip to Bhutan comes to an end today. After your breakfast, your guide and driver will see you off at Paro international airport.

If you want to cancel your trip, your payment made will be refunded after deducting the bank charges and other service charges. But the visitors have to let us know immediately as and when they decide to cancel their tour.

Tour Programs booked and subsequently cancelled shall be subject to cancellation charges as follows: –

within 60 days of the start of the tour programme: Free
within 30 days: 15% of the rate
within 14 days: 30% of the rate
within 7 days: 50% of the rate
Less than 7 days or cancellation without notice: 100% of the rate

There shall be no charge for the number of days of delay in departure of visitor due to weather conditions, Druk Air/Bhutan Airline problems or roadblocks. They will be charged only the actual expenses on accommodation, food transport and any other services required.

It is highly recommended that you purchase travel insurance prior to travel.
