Kanchenjanga is the third tallest mountain in the world after Mt. Everest and Mt. K2. Kanchenjunga is located in the eastern part of Nepal at 8598 m. It is an enormous mountain mass, and many of the satellite peaks rise from the narrow snowy hills. It is Located on the border between Nepal and Sikkim, 46 miles north-west of Darjeeling. The summit consists of four peaks. The western summit of Yalung Kang is 8,820 meters high and is classified as a separate summit of 8,000 meters.
The first Westerners to explore Kanchenjunga were the British botanist JD Hooker, who visited the area twice in 1848 and 1849. Exploration of the side of the peak continued with both British and veteran explorers mapping and photographing until 1899. In that year, a party led by Douglas Freshfield made a circuit of Kanchenjunga and produced what is still one of the most authoritative maps of the region.
Route (North Face) is definitely the safest, though not the easiest climb. The Kanchenjanga climb starts from a charming base camp with lawns and a panoramic view at 5180 meters. The first challenge is to repair lines up to 900 meters from the complex mixed climbing to the Northern Col. This provides more climbing difficulty in the expedition. Once you’ve created the lifeline to and from Colonel Cole you can start the long process of creating three camps at the long and complex north peak. With the help of Sherpa and oxygen support, you can move slowly at a regularly higher and higher mountain pace. This is a very satisfying climb for expert climbers.
